Spring dress fever - Ann Demeulemeester
Although not technically a dress, but a great spring look, nonetheless, by none other than my other beloved Belgian fashion designer, Ann Demeulemeester. This outfit is classic and timeless, yet hip and modern at the same time. I love how it is multi-layered and rich in accessories. It’s appropriate for day or evening wear.

Spring dress fever - Martin Margiela
This is my favorite Martin Margiela dress from his Spring 2008 collection. I’m not usually a fan of elaborate prints, but this Western fantasy tube dress speaks to me. The image is very striking. I love the color palette and the way the transparent jersey drapes the body.

Spring dress fever - Roland Mouret

The sun is back out and it’s time to primp up. This week I will focus on sexy dresses for spring 2008. Running out of inspiration for fitted spring dresses? Roland Mouret has the best cuts and colors and… oh, so much class! Shame the models look so gaunt - I had to crop their heads off so that you can focus on the clothes instead of anorexia. You can view the rest of the collection on video at the NY mag site.

Mother’s Day Gifts - DIY
I think that the best gift for any mom is the one that is handmade by you, so get creative and make your mom something she’ll love and use. Here’s a clever idea from DIY’s Craft Lab:
Simple Aluminum Bud Vase

Step 1 - cut the aluminum dryer duct in half

Step 2 - remove the cut semi-circle

Step 3 - feather it out with your hands

Step 4 - until both ends meet

Step 5 - cut a small strip of foil tape

Step 6 - tape the open end and smooth out the crease

Step 7 - insert a test tube, some water and a flower

Step 8 - and now you have a flower vase for your mom!
Materials: Aluminum dryer duct, industrial scissors or x-acto knife, foil tape, test tube, flower

RSS Awareness Day
Most of you know that RSS is a great way to subscribe to news feed, but not all of you use it. The idea behind RSS Awareness Day is to get more of the general public exposed to RSS and to increase its usage.
Here are 5 RSS benefits:
1. RSS simplifies communication between publishers and readers.
2. RSS feeds contain headlines and brief content summaries that don’t overwhelm the reader with details.
3. RSS keeps the reader free of unwanted email newsletters and spam.
4. RSS is a communication tool for publishers to create relevant content, establish an online reputation and engage with current and future readers.
5. The reader is in complete control of the information flow. RSS allows the reader to scan multiple content feeds in a timely fashion. If the headline peeks the reader’s interest, they can choose to click on it for further details, but if quality declines, they can remove the feed just as easily as they subscribed.

Banana Republic goes green
This year’s Earth Week Banana Republic is donating 1% of their sales to Trust for Public Land, a non-profit dedicated to conserving city parks and playgrounds and creating new ones. So hurry and shop this week (April 22-27) guilt-free, knowing that with every new skirt or sundress that you buy, you are making your city greener. If you are not a BR clothing fan, but would like to support their environmental efforts, you can also donate directly to this great cause or register to volunteer.
